It's been almost two months!
My skin broke out terribly a coupla weeks ago (PMS) and i had to walk around with a plaster on my face trying to cover up those UGLY disgusting pus filled volcanoes on my cheeks (had about 3 or 4 forming right next to each other!).
Then it went fabulously clear just in time for my graduation :) This week im getting a new breakout but the pimples are small and nothing i can't handle.
I have noticed though that the pores on my nose are horribly larger, like craters! Perhaps in the past they were so clogged up with oil i never realised their depth? and now that my skin is drying up they're left empty? The derm says nothing will show yet wait atleast another month for proper results. But ppl have been telling me my skin is a lot clearer :)
As for side effects. the cracked lips are such a drag with my lips bleeding easily. Today i was playing with my brother and i laughed hard and my lips cracked and bled!!!!
Also a coupla weeks ago i went out for lunch with a friend and the weather was as usual hot and stuffy, i had sunscreen on but still i felt my skin sting and my face went terribly red i thought i was burned! Other than that, im getting dry, eczematous patches on my arms..
I noticed something, i choke when i eat more than i used to before. Im attributing this to dry throat possibly? as an effect of roaccutane.
Hope i can last the next four months!

Day 22
Im in to my fourth week now. Still on 30mg.
My skin was better a week ago, now its beginning to break out. But the pimples surface and dry up quite quickly.
My lips are soooooooo dry, often times bleeding. They sting and look red and a bit pumped up which isn't so bad :p The skin around my mouth and chin is peeling and always looks dull and flakey.
My nose and cheeks feel coarse and i have hundreds of tiny little blackheads that i can't resist to squeeze every now and then :s
Though my pimples aren't too bad, they're small and not inflamed (not like the huge pus filled ones i was getting on the first week) but they do give my skin this bumpy, coarse look which isn't too flattering. Still, im happy and hopeful :) And overall my pores are definitely smaller.
Other than that, i have noticed the following symptoms:
1-Dry eyes, they go red and sting
2- Dry, flyaway hair - been oiling it more often which can be quite a drag
3- The skin around my nails is peeling and looks quite hideous - i should try soaking my nails in olive oil
4- im teary, almost like im PMSing (but im not)

Day 8
My face is breaking out :)
Nothing too terrible yet thank God.
My lips are dry as well, and my eyes are feeling dry too.
Otherwise, everything else is okay :)

Day 3
I just need to make a list of symptoms I already have (due to PMS and stuff) so as not to attribute them later to roaccutane...
1- My left jaw aches when i chew.
2- sore throat
3- mood swings
4- Rt breast lump that aches (not worried yet)
5- Hair falls out occasionally
6- Itchy scalp occasionally
7- Skin behind ears is getting itchy recently
8- Dry skin around my chin
9- Oversleeping
10- Forgetfullness
11- Sleep paralysis
yikes looking at that list it all seems pretty scarey!!! nevermind.
Can't remember anything else. i'll add them later as I go.
Having said that, i must say i have noticed the following so far:
- My skin is itchy around the nose and forehead. My friends say its because its beginning to get dry.
- The teeny weeny pimples i had on my right cheek ( the ones that are deep within the skin -sometimes not even a facial can clear them up) are beginning to emerge and it seems are going to transform into those ugly pus filled papules with white heads - the ones that erupt like volcanoes upon the slightest pressure EW!!!! how am i going to go to work with a cheek full of pus filled volcanoes?? :s If it gets really bad i'll have to take a sick leave! And i'll be doing humanity a favour by staying at home and keeping those things out of sight!! I've just put some honey on them in the hope that it'll dry them up and stop em from getting too inflamed. I should do it again tomorrow too.
Other than that, everything else is pretty much the same. My lips do get dry a little, but not too much.
Im worried about my hair getting very dry, so im making it a habit to oil it occasionally, like every other day, so i dont lose too much hair and it remains the way it is. Im also going to oil my body after every shower with almond oil.
thats it for now!

Day 2
I've had pimples since i was thirteen. Tried everything there possibly is. I randomly recall my fourteen year old self sitting meekly infront of the dermatologist as she suggested a 'very strong' drug that will 'make all the pimples come out, and then u will have clear skin'. I had a picture in my head of me with 'all the pimples out' and my face looking like a pizza. I shook my head vehemently at her.. My reputation in school could be ruined forever. no thank you. I'd rather live with these few pimples that i get every now and then.
Over the years i had various dermatologists suggest this 'miracle' drug. I insisted on not taking it. The only time i actually went to a dermatologist and asked for it, he refused saying i don't need it!!
Well now, finally after more than ten years of indecision and fear of side effects, i have boldly ventured into the unknown, and have started my roaccutane treatment :) Six months of dry skin, chapped lips, dry eyes, hair loss and a myriad of other possible side effects have finally begun. I only hope that the end result will be worth all these ,seemingly, petty symptoms (as compared to years of unclear skin and hiding my face in shame) :D
Today is my second day. I am taking 30 mg a day. After my afternoon nap today i felt my skin was rather tight, and my mouth somewhat dry. Im unsure if the drug can work so soon, or if im just being a hypochondriac :) In any case, i have to get more supply of lip gloss, one for the car, one in my bag, one at home etc. I also have to look for a strong moisturiser, or maybe ill just stick to good old almond oil every night.
Everytime i take the medication i say a little prayer, that God may grant me the good effects and prevent the side effects of this drug :)
Im writing this blog to keep a diary of any improvements and side effects experienced, in order to help those indecisive souls out there make a decision :)
Good luck to me and everyone else starting it !!!
